colorPol® polarizers are dichroic glass polarizers developed by CODIXX AG and
produced by adopting a unique process. This technology involves various process
steps adapted to produce in sodium-silicate flat glass uniformly oriented deformed
silver colloids near the surface. These deformed silver particles, while causing
absorption to occur in selectable spectral regions dependent of the polarizing
direction of light, make sure that non-polarized light incident on the polarizer
will leave the latter as polarized light. The effect is wavelength-selective.
The spectral region of maximum polarization is adjustable by varying the process
parameters and can be customized in the near-UV (340- 410nm), VIS and IR
(450-1,700nm) ranges.
The polarizers feature a high transmittance. colorPol® Polarizers are available in a
wide range of sizes and geometries. As thin-glass product, they can be sized to
less than 1mm² similar to semiconductor chips. They can be supplied with or
without mounts, as ordered.
Unlike film polarizers, colorPol® polarizers can be used at temperatures of up
to 400°C; they are resistant to solvents and UV radiation. A specific feature
of colorPol® polarizers involves structuring in terms of polarizing color
patterns or polarizing structures as desired. The broad spectral range, the high
polarization factor and contrast, as well as the high transmission ratio, in
conjunction with the temperature stability and the potential of geometric sizing,
all make the polarizers suitable for diverse applications. |
